[OFFICIAL] Korean SGS III (SHW-M440S/SHV-E210S/K/L) Rooting, ROMs, and Kernel + Guide

Since the Korean SGS3 3G just came out a few weeks ago, there are not many ROMs available yet.

The LTE version is released today, so same goes for that.

If you go to the first page of this thread there are some links for you to check out.
Also, there is some information regarding the bands and frequencies for both phones here:

I get my LTE tomorrow so either someone who gets their's today can answer the bands question on that website, or I will tomorrow.

The guy who put up the rooting information also put up a notice saying that this was only for the SKT version of the phones so I would probably not attempt it if you are on KT or LG.

I would probably assume that most of the info, like factory firmware, etc is also for only SKT.

Yah, sorry, guess it should have been mentioned.

Most of the information on here is for SKT, because that is what has been posted around the web.

Also, I am/will be using SKT.
If you are with KT or LG please help us out and post your information as well!

Now, to find out if the rooting will work for the LTE version.....

Maybe they work for Samsung or SKT? All I know is it worked on my 3g. To bad you can't contact him/her easily.

When I did it, I just looked at the page on Blue Premium, which is the same that sambauer posted.

I know "I think" but have you gone to the page recently to read comments? I haven't but it might give you a clue about people with LTE if they are doing it or having problems. Just look at the comments for the past two days.

He changed the notice again. I don't have someone to translate correctly for me right now but with Chrome's auto translate it seems to say that the method he posted is good for all S3's (LG/SKT/KT).

I'm looking forward to trying out their Prestige Mod...

I saw that video.
The Prestige Mod does look pretty sweet to be honest.


Thing with Korean phones and rooting is the banking apps do not work if the phone is rooted.
So in order to use online banking, which I do, I would have to keep rooting and unrooting using that method.
Im hoping Tegrak comes out with his Kernel soon, so I can get 'er done

I accidentally installed an insecure kernel while attempting to backup my phone (SKT SHW-M440S 3G). Now, I can only go to download mode and phone won't boot. I was able to successfully root my phone be before this happened. I also tried to install the factory ROM posted here but still won't do. Help!!!

Are you sure it was just a Kernel?

First thing you need to do is do a factory reset.
Can you get into Recovery Mode?
Like when you boot the phone, does it give you 2 options? Turn off the phone, take out battery and put it back in.
Then use the POWER + HOME + VOLUME DOWN buttons together....see where that gets you.

If you can get to Recovery Mode, then you need to do a factory reset (also, try doing a cache wipe and davlik wipe).


If you can only get into Download mode, you are going to have to use Odin to flash the factory ROM.

Do you know how to flash a new ROM?
I am guessing you tried to do the Kernel so you should know.
