maybe this will work
1) Go to Settings> Version
2) Tap the map text 4 times, then tap 1 on the current map version number. (The sequence also works with the firmware text and version number)
The PIN appears but I have no idea what it is.
I tasted the hours on the radio, but it does not work!
Hello Amir,Hi All, Thanks for all the intructions that you guys have provided so far. I have been silently following this thread and have now decided to register and post up.
I have a 2018 Kia Sorento Sport 2.2 Diesel (Australia) with Navigation. 3rd Party apps have been installed successfully (Easy touch, Orientation, SoundAbout and VLC Player Lite) except for Youtube only because I cant find Wifi option under android settings OR under engineering mode.
My HU is LG and I think they must have disabled Wifi under settings somewhere that I cant find (gone through all engineering mode settings). Also tried internet connection sharing over bluetooth but that wont work as well becasue KIA have disabled internet over bluetooth.
I can see under ADB mode there is IP address and DNS server address which means dealership have some means of connecting HU to internet.
While I was running out of ideas, I tried installing USB wifi dongle to HU via USB port (next to AUX IN) to no avail. HU doesnt even recognise the Wifi dongle being plugged in.
Can someone shed some light on how to get Wifi or internet going on my HU ?, any help will be highly appreciated.
Regards,
Amir.
Hello Amir,
The Internet connection is made by the WiFi access point on your phone. This can be automatically achieved once the bluetooth is connected, thanks to an app like "Kia hotspot". Your Kia will connect to the wifi from your phone that is sharing the 4G connection...

Identical issue with 2018 UM PE Sorento (GT Line)
Also Australia
The unit is a 8" running Android 4.2.2, in status there is no MAC address for WiFi, and like above, no WiFI options.
So mate, This confirms that our Australian models have LG systems and there is no Wifi OR has been disabled.
I'm trying to find out which without pulling it out.
Like you I tried a wifi dongle, which should be supported kernel level and nothing.
I'll try wired ethernet soon, just that takes a little more...effort.
I have a firmware update file for the LG (877mb), supposedly for the unit we have.
Unknown if it will add anything, the source doesn't know either.
So, if theres no other developments I may as well see what happens.

Maybe current time +0314
Guys from a russian thread could access from the firmware update window.
If you succeed with the access click downgrade enable and flash the previous firmware.
I haven't checked this method, I'm on previous firmware.
If it works, all credits to welder_pb (...).
from russian forum
tap as a foto, password - time+0314, or 24000314
check "downgrade" and return to previous firmware
Let me get on this as well. Been using this trick since I got my Kia Stonic Juli 2018.
Even with the latest SW update of the system, it is still working.
I even created a tutorial after testing SW update would not harm this trick which can be found here: http://mohammad.moghtader.net/meer-controle-over-je-kia-of-hyundai-hebben/ (in Dutch)
For SoundAbout forcing audio back to 70% because of Android Ear protection, use this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jakebasile.android.hearingsaver&hl=en
I got Soundabout installed and can make calls with soundabout enabled. Try using the same version as written in my guide.
Never had this issue. Check the version, try using the version I described in my guide.
Hi,
Does anyone have any dea how to access engineering mode on my i40 Gen4 Unit with software ST.VFIA.EUR.E536.230920? I need to change amp modes but I cant seem to even get the password prompt to appear as of yet. Thanks.
EDIT: I've managed to get the password screen to appear, it was on the storage info screen, 5 taps in the bottom left and then 1 tap in the bottom right, I mustn't have been tapping quite far enough into the corner. I'll have a try at getting the codes from the update file tomorrow and post back with any updates (if there are any).
I'm not afraid of challenges, but sometimes I need a little helpThere was no need to download software from another model!
Now it is already DIFFICULT to repair.
Just purchased a 2022 Telluride SX with the wide screen. Been reading this thread and noticing no one has found a way to get into engineering mode for these newer firmware, right?
I would just like to side load some apps and be able to run them from the Kia main menu.
If for some reason I am incorrect in that there’s no way to side load these newer widescreens then please do let me know. It’s Likely I may have scanned across a post or something that had that info.
Thanks!
Hi guys,
On my Tucson (2018 - AA) I can only access the engineering mode where I don't...
Now that we can sideload apps, is there any way to let Android auto work wirelessly?
