Which, at that time, made no sense to me other than that something screwed up. A sort of PC LOAD LETTER message, but from the modem.

I'm 38 and I'm a programmer in various languages, primarly C#. I also made a couple of Android apps for my personal use.
I met Android with an Xperia J, then Nexus 4 and now Nexus 6P. I love flashing custom roms from XDA developers, when I have time.

Just turned 50 this year, and working in IT since 1995. Been rooting my phone and flashing Roms for a few years.

It amazes me that there are so many smart people on this forum.

I'm glad I'm not the only old dude here. I also loving playing video games. Going to play Mafia III when I get home.

Downloading 'pics' on a 4800 baud modem...

First computer was a Tandy 1000 ex.

I used to compile COBOL and debug machine code, but at that time Fortran was the norm and C was bleeding edge. I'm closer to 20 than I am to 80 (until December, when I'll be xx).
