I have a Pioneer 4100 NEX, using the cables and HDMI converter that was recommended in another appradio thread (Towabo USB3.1 Type-C to HDMI adapter). The firmware in the Pioneer was just updated to 1.09. The 4100 is installed in a 2012 jeep JK using a PAC canbus adapter and a micro bypass.

Now appradio seems to work, set the input to other-HDMI and then expanded the screen to fit. I can control the phone from the radio BUT everytime I change to appradio, I lose sound from whatever I was using, be it Sirius, HD radio or the SD card. I have a friend that has the same setup but he's on a Dodge RAM and not on a canbus link. He had audio and can then bring up appradio and keeps his selected audio playing.

From the radio end, we are the same firmware, same HDMI adapter, same cables and feeding the adapter from a 2A+ dedicated USB-C cable. The only difference is he has the paid version of Nova Launcher and I have the free version.

I figure it's something I missed. Anyone have any suggestions?

When in AppRadio Mode and hitting the volume button, there's 2 tabs one for the AppRadio connection and one for another source.

The casting automation can only start casting to devices that the phone supports from the phone's cast screen. On a Samsung phone that's only to Miracast devices. For a Chromecast you need to start screencasting manually from the Google Home app.

Thanks, That worked and the app is everything I had hoped for. Great job.

I couldn't find that in the manual I found. Maybe you can consider adding that?

Thanks to this post, I bought the above parts.
Yes, it does work well on the AVH-4100NEX and a Verizon Galaxy S8.

Apologies in advance for the noob question

So I have a pixel and planning to get a chromecast and the unchained rootless app. Will I be able to cast to the 8200nex without any issues?

TIA.

NICE! I was not wanting to buy the S8 because I would miss my appradio so this app came at a perfect time thank you so much!!!

I am guessing that plugging a USB-C cable into the adapter pioneer provides won't work?

Nope. The S8 supports DisplayPort Alternate Mode (DP Alt Mode in short) but it doesn't support MHL.

The Chromecast isn't the best device for mobile use but currently the only option for a Pixel. It requires an internet connection to be able to connect to it. That can be done via the phone's mobile hotspot. This requires that your provider allows wifi tethering. But even when the Chromecast has an internet connection it sometimes doesn't show up as an device that can be casted to. I am looking into adding Miracast casting support into the app directly but that's something that will take quite some time so until that's done Chromecast is the only option for Google phones with Android 7.

Thanks. After reading the manual on page 1, seems like chromecast is the only route for me at the moment. I'm sure you've answered this question before but I'm gonna ask again, is there a good phone that supports MHL under $300 that I could use with rootless app? Seems like a better investment than the chromecast and if I need internet connection then I could just tether via my pixel.

It's all the same generic stuff from China. You can also order directly from China for half the price but of course it takes 3-4 weeks until you get it.
This seems the same: https://www.banggood.com/3-in-1-USB-...l?rmmds=search
