Driver uninstall

I'm trying to put a new ROM on my TF700t berndblb's great process. I'm stuck at the point where my computer can't see the tablet in fastboot mode. Recommendation was to use your naked drivers. Got them (I assume for Win7 Pro 64 bit it is in the i386 folder). Same problem as other gentleman where you uninstall and it comes back when you replug in the tablet or you if try to update and you are told it is the latest driver. So, I'm stumped. I'm missing something obviously but it is not clear what exactly. You might have to give a more stepwise approach because we both can't see to get over the hump. Thanks.
