Pixelbook in Developer Mode

I have a Pixelbook as my only personal laptop. I have a Windows laptop for work but is fully locked down so I cannot do anything personal on it.

I want to use an Android cycling app called Zwift. It is not configured for use on a Chromebook so it is not available on Playstore despite the Pixelbook being enabled for Android apps generally.

The only way to install the Zwift app is to enable Developer Mode and I am nervous about how easy this is and what risk there is. Can I "brick" the Chromebook?

There are instructions on line and I can follow them but I am cautious.

Any suggestions or advice to make this as easy as possible?
