Unlock bootloader first before replacing the boot image. After that, follow the first post. Google it and it should lead you to the Huawei unlock bootloader page. If I'm not mistaken, your Huawei ID should be logged in to the phone for at least 14 days before they give you the unlock code. Not sure if that restriction has already been lifted.

I got it 2 days ago on the huawei page where you unlock your device as a response to my question to unlock it...(see pic)

@evs-ru i dont think so at the moment aus the prerootet boot img contains supersu as i know, i think one has to make a prerootet boot img with magisk for your wish... @mahesh2040 I cant say... one should read a long text, but i didnt... but i think you will leave warranty: That would be logic ... i havent root my honor yet, but i will do in the next time...

So, is there any way to flash Magisk instead SuperSU?

Ok, so I don't have the V10 (just looking at what's out there for it and considering if I should get it) ... but can't you just install the Magisk Manager and then it does the flashing and boot.img repacking? I mean that's how it works on my LG G5 and on my Android TV Box, I can't imagine it being any different here:confused:

So I might be completely off track here and in that case I apologize in advance ... but when I put Magisk on my BeeLink TV box I didn't need any kind of boot.img either, Magisk extracted that from the running system.

I went into SuperSu and selected the cleanup to switch superuser apps. 1st time it just got stuck on the "please wait" screen, so I restarted the box, clicked on it again and this time it was done within seconds and SuperSU was gone.

Then I rebooted, installed the Magisk Manager app, let it download the file it needed and clicked on the automatic install. I then saw it back up the boot.img, patch it and reported success. I let it reboot and that was it, the box was running Magisk.

On my G5 I didn't need any img either, Magisk just backed up the existing one before patching it.

Is the V10 really so much different? Have you tried it at all?

Since TWRP is still not ported to V10, so i decided to make a prerooted-boot.img.

Download Link

You can flash this boot.img to root your Honor V10 AL20C00 (6GB+128GB China Edition) on stock firmware (B132)
Usage:
0. Unlock bootloader and close find my phone.
1. Power off your phone
2. Plug your phone to computer
3. Hold power and volume down until boot into fastboot mode
4. flash this boot.img by adb ( fastboot flash ramdisk boot-root-b122.img), please download adb by yourself
5. reboot (fastboot reboot)

Your phone may reboot twice, and you'll get root access.

Declaim:
I only test this on my own phone (BKL-AL20C00), Use this on your own risk. I'm not responsible for your phone's damage.
using this tool means you accept this.

Thanks:

@mankindtw for his Mate-10 root boot.img
cofface for his bootimg.exe to unpack and repack boot.img
@worstenbrood for his Huawei Update Extractor
Will this work after OTA?

Hey guys, couldn't find a proper thread to post this on, so thought i'd do it here as it is somewhat related to rooting and bootloader unlock. If you find this to be in the wrong place, please instruct me.

My problem - As we all know, Huawei has stopped providing bootloader unlock codes to their new devices. I had raised a bootloader unlock code request right before that, captured a screenshot and saved it to my google drive storage. Unfortunately now, I am unable to find it anywhere (neither on my laptop nor in the drive/photos). Is there a way to recover this code by logging in to their site/any other place/contact to recover this? I have tried looking for it in all possible locations and have been unable to find it. If someone can help me unlock my bootloader, I will be very grateful. Thank you in advance.

Does This rom work on Honor Play? I want to know casue there are no developments for Honor play as the bootloader key is not provided by honor though there is an unofficial way to unlock the bootloader.
One of the Junior Members in the Honor play thread suggested to try Roms of Honor v10..so I wanted to know if this rom or any other Rom of this device would work for honor play?

    Hi harshshah17,
Did you unlock your bootloader first? I think there are methods to flash zip files without having a custom REC. Try Flashfire apk. I've read the phone can get even more "restricted" (many features get blocked) once you root your Honor V10. Is it true in your case? Thanks in advance for your reply.

Ofcourse i have unlocked my bootloader..Its only after that, that you can root. With regard to your question, I have not experienced any sort of "restriction" with my Honor View 10 post rooting. Seems to be working just as normal. The only thing is that i am unable to install the OTA update.

The reason I am asking for a custom recovery is because i need to remove Super SU and install Magisk instead. In order to remove super SU i need to flash an uninstall zip (I know you a can remove it from the Super SU options, but that doesn't seem to be working). I can certainly use flashfire to flash the uninstall zip but then my phone will be unrooted and I wont be able to flash magisk via flashfire.

If anyone has a solution for the above, suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks!

Where can you find the full OTA?

Download Firmware Finder for Huawei in Play store. They got partial and full OTAs there.

By the way, flashing custom ROMs for V10 is now also thru Fastboot. So I guess TWRP isn't applicable for V10? Maybe Magisk can also be flashed using Fastboot. I will try to research for custom ROM with Magisk. So far, I only see SuperSU pre-installed. ?

I did download that and the extractor tool but it says I need the update.app file to extract the boot image an I've yet to find that in either of the three files I tried.

So I know how to use fastboot but will I need the boot image first or can I just flash magisk. The current root method installs su. That's where I'm kind of stuck as far because I've always read that you have to uninstall su first but then wouldn't I lose the ability to flash magisk? I'm currently just rooted on the stock rom.

Didn't even know there was a custom rom hadn't seen it on here yet.

    Yut kill

Do you have BKL-AL20? Here's a non-rooted boot image. I'm not sure if it can be used on other variants / versions. If you have another variant, I can find it for you.
