@Captain_Throwback update U11 twrp recovery for android 8.0 few days ago, I replaced the kernel for U11+ and do patch on it,
touch is working but no luck with data decryption, maybe some experts can fix this

I do not have U11+, I'm just asking my friend doing test with this TWRP recovery...

android-7.1 build (decrypt not work)
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1Ke...K3D2eW8SlQNSi7

android-8.0 build (decrypt work, need to wipe userdata or you will get data encrypted message when reboot to system)
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1d1...cppo_6bBgedk9m

And if you just wanna root your U11+ it's not necessary to install TWRP recovery to gain root now, Magisk v14.5 is a good choice.
All you need is download the boot image that match your device's software number and variants.

Instructions
Since TWRP cannot decrypt /data yet, the proper way to install Magisk is via Magisk Manager. You will need a stock boot image from official factory images.
Download MagiskManager-v5.4.1.apk from attachments and install it to your device. #MagiskManager is inside flash zip file, just extract it and install it
This Magisk Manager is specifically built for this release ONLY, both stable and beta channels points to the same custom URL.
Once you've got Magisk Manager installed, I'll just copy and paste the instructions from the Magisk OP here:

  • This method does not need root, and also does not require a custom recovery.
  • Press Install > Install > Patch Boot Image File, and select your stock boot image file
  • Magisk Manager will now patch your boot image, and store it in [Internal Storage]/MagiskManager/patched_boot.img
  • Flash the patched boot image to your device and reboot. Voilà!
Please don't share a patched boot image in the forums since it will help no one. Flashing a patched boot image alone is not sufficient to run Magisk properly. The "patch through Magisk Manager" step is actually mandatory if you wonder why.

excellent! Please, try to put up a github repo for it, if not already
Hopefully it works fine.
If HTC rolls out kernel sources, I might try some blind development, as I don't have the device, but wanna support it.

Should you need to unlock the official htcdev before they can put?

Thanks for this however it doesn't seem to work for me. I've unlocked the bootloader, rebooted into bootloader mode via adb (adb reboot bootloader), tried to boot the twrp image (fastboot boot twrp-3.1.1-2_unofficial-ocm_2.img) and all I get is a black screen even though the commands seem to work at first:
Quote:

fastboot boot twrp-3.1.1-2_unofficial-ocm_2.img
downloading 'boot.img'...
OKAY [ 0.894s]
booting...
OKAY [ 10.112s]
finished. total time: 11.006s

Any idea what's going on?

I didn't flash since I wanted to test it out before using the fastboot boot command recommended in the original post. However this does not seem to work. I wanted to get twrp running so I could use magisk for root
