Hi

I have an old Acer Iconia A100 Tablet, running
Android 4.03
Kernel 2.6.39.4+

Can this tab be updated?
Has anyone tried, was there success?

Any thoughts on how it can, or is it even possible

No one has developed a ROM for the a100 since jellybean. Its close relative A500 hasn't had a Rom developed since Lollypop. You have to develop it yourself or find someone to do so. Lineage aka Cyanogenmod won't support the tegra 2. So if anyone developes one it has to be on a Tegra 2 friendly Rom like OmniRom.

Having said that, Rooting accomplishes a lot, in terms of customization, so unless someone develops a New ROM, you can root it.

ok, thx.
I'll check out omnirom, but it looks like it's time for a new tablet.

I understand that android has dropped continuing support for tegra processors which is what has left the iconia out in the cold for updates beyond jb. However dev timduru has developed a nougat-based ROM for the Asus tf700t which is another tegra based tablet. Anyone watching this thread capable of seeing if it can be modified for the iconia? It's kisskat's nougatella.
