Got my kindle fire downgraded in 15 min

You can simply contact us back and we can upgrade the device back to higher versions.
However, it is not possible to further downgrade the device because the apps and many features will not be compatible with the lower software versions.

Amazon has agreed to downgrade my HDX 7

I told them that it had slowed down after a recent update and I asked them to rollback the software. They said they couldn't do it. I told them that they can and had done for a friend. (I don't really have friends) The woman said she would put me in contact with tech support. They told me to try factory resetting the kindle. I told them I had done this multiple times. They then asked me to describe the slowness and I did. Then then told me if I would like a replacement. I replied by saying I was going on holiday. He then agreed to put me in contact with tech support plus. I am now waiting on their reply. By the way if you get rejected for a rollback try to contact them by phone. Don't give in and don't be offensive. Tell basic lies. Hopefully I can rollback to 3.1.x or 3.2.1-7 to root, install recovery and switch to CM11 and unlock the boot loader. :)

Sorry Guys, but can you tell me what I will do next to get my device get rooted? Coz I dont find any Root software that work in 13.3.2.8 version

Hello,

inspired by you guys work here I tried my luck.
I chatted with .COM last night. They first denied but then looked into it. Then after quite some time the Assistent told me I bought from .DE and the cannot do it for me. I told him one guy reported vice versa, that only .COM could do. He insisted he could not. So I thanked him and logged off. Today I woke up and got nearly a heart attack as 4.5.3 had been pushed over night. So today I chatted with .DE. I honestly told them I wanted 3.2.8 for I could do way mor customizations and that .COM told me they could do it for me. The Assistent confirmed this Information right away and told me I am stuck with 3.2.8 then. I confirmed this and he filed an order to the technician to do so. He said ist Weekend alreaready (my god ist friday only!) and this may take quite some time.
So I am now happily waiting for the Firmware to be pushed and hope it works out without having to contact them again since I really like the device but never ever owned an Android I wasnt able to root. I hope though one of you manages to jailbreak the recent firmwares some time.

I spoke with an Amazon representative today (I'm on 4.5.5.1 and want 3.2.x, it seems to have done an OTA even though it was off), and they told me that downgrades can't be done on 3rd gen HDX tablets. Is this true? I have the 3rd gen HDX 7 inch.

Correct. You can only roll back to 3.2.8 via risky manual procedure that buys you nothing. If you were hoping to get down to 3.2.3 or lower to unlock the bootloader no such luck. Any attempt to downgrade below 3.2.8 will brick the device with no possible recovery.

However, you can root 4.5.5.1 and potentially install one of two custom KitKat roms (Nexus or CM11) giving full access to Google Play Services/Store. Makes a sweet android tablet devoid of Amazon bloat. Only KitKat roms; nothing higher on 3rd gen devices with locked bootloaders.

Note: Installing Google Services/Store with FireOS is a bad idea that will yield endless headaches. Really need to go the custom ROM path.

Where do you get live support?

I don't have kindle live assistance on my 3rd gen. Even resetting back to factory doesn't change the update. Where do I go for live help?? I want this rolled back so I can use google play

What version of FireOS is installed now? It may be possible to rollback and then immediately upgrade to restore Amazon's Mayday service if it is still operational. As for adding Google Play, you really need to consider a custom ROM as Google and Amazon don't play nice together on 3rd gen devices (specifically w/FireOS v4).

    Just had a go at getting mine back from 4.5.1 to 3.2.5 using amazons "chat" service. Took me about 10mins to get a downgrade (its happening atm). For anyone who wants to know how to word your "request", mine went like this:

    Me:I would like to downgrade my Kindle HDX 7 to version 3.2.5 please

    Pravash: Steven, please understand that your Kindle device updates automatically to the latest software version wirelessely. If it doesn't happen, we recommend you to update it manually to resolve most issues in your Kindle device. Unfortunately, it's not possible to downgrade the software version.

    Me:Sorry Pravash, but I'm aware that that is untrue. I find the HDX software fairly unusable and constricting. I loved the hardware however. On a previous version I had changed the operating system but an update since has put the Fire OS back on it for months i have not used the device because i cannot stand the OS.
    All I ask is to have the device put back to a version, such as 3.2.5 so that I can go back to enjoying the amazon device. please could you help me out?

    I used Towelroot to give me root (installed from ES File Manager)
    I installed superUser and I downloaded "Safestrap-Thor-3.75-os3.2.4-B02.apk" (other versions didnt work) and installed recovery mode.
    YAY, back to normal!!!

    Which version had your hdx, 4.5.1 or 4.5.2 ?

    Amazon downgrade the device from 4.5.2 to 3.2.7

    I'm chatting with Amazon custom service,
    They accept my kindle roll back to os 13.3.x.x but they warning my kindle cant not further updates
    well well
    so confusing
