Does this persist between flashing ROMs? My guess is the modification is in the baseband and so as long as you don't flash a different baseband, you're good?

The ca bc value for band 3 always resets to "4" upon rebooting. I am running the latest version of lineage os with nov security patch. Sim 1 is jio while sim 2 is vodafone. I have seen the 4g+ occasionally ...it comes and goes...i reside in meerut(Up west). Has the 4g+ service been launched in selected areas only?

LTE band 5(850mhz) in Indian retail unit?

Can someone with the Indian retail unit confirm whether it supports LTE band 5(850mhz). Since many sellers locally are mentioning it as supported but it is missing in Lenovo India's website's product specification.
Thanks

Yes, it does, I am using it with Jio and I have seen my device catching 2300Mhz / 1800 MHz and 850 MHz depending on different location with Jio SIM.

Stock ROM and Stock Firmware..

Zuk z2 supports only 2CA as per Indian Product page of Lenovo as mentioned in previous post. Initially tried the 3CA for Jio Band 3+5+40 and found battery drain to be 20% more also CA is unstable. Hence will disable CA for Band 40 (value 0) and enable 2CA mode for bands 3+5 by writing the value as 20.

Btw thanks a lot for this awesome guide.

There is no intra band CA in JIO right now. You should try Band 3+5 CA in Jio. It is most stable. For Band 3 and 5 you should write NV value 20 and in Band 40 Just write 0 to disable.

Disabled 3CA and enbled 2CA for bands 3+5 (value 20) using QXDA.
As a result the signal doesn't fluctuate like it did in 3CA mode. But the value 20 reverts to the default '4' in B3 BC Config. But the values written to B5 and B40 stays the same.
Why doesn't the value of B40 persist? Any idea @nitinmits ?

My hunch regarding the signal fluctuation with 3CA:-

1. Indian Baseband supports only 2CA as mentioned in product page. Enabling 3CA causes instability due to missing firmware program.
2. (a)Band 40 is TDD-LTE 2300MHz and is of high frequency signal having lower penetration power. 10-20MHz bandwidth.
(b)Band 5 is FDD-LTE 850MHz low frequency signal with higher penetration. 5MHz bandwidth.
(c)Band 3 FDD-LTE 1800MHz. (No idea on bandwidth)
3. Jio sim by default latched to 2300 B40 signal due to higer bandwidth allocation per phone and latches to the B5 only when we are indoors or basement as it has better penetration.
4. Combining B5 and B40 in 2CA or 3CA could be in-efficient with our Z2 plus as they are of two different types of LTE i.e. FDD & TDD due to missing firmware level qam modulation code support. Whereas B3 B5 in 2CA may work perfectly fine without any fluctuations as they are both FDD having comparitively low frequency.

That's really cool. But it didn't work for me with 1.76 base-band and various roms. I had to manually edit the values using QXDA tool though my current place of stay has all 3 bands of Jio network simultaneously.

I did flash latest zui 3.5.243 through qfil. So, it might be a firmware update. I'm on 1.70 baseband from the ZUI 3.5.243.

Tried various CA band combinations with Jio and below are the results. Tested with CrDroid Nougat with 1.76 baseband.

1. 3CA B3+B5+B40 - Mostly unstable but high speeds 100Mbps.
2. 2CA B3+B40 and B3+B5 - Highly stable but speeds upto 60Mbps (B3+B40).
3. 2CA B3+B5 - Most Stable and speeds upto 30Mbps.
I have posted the screenshots in the above order.

So 2CA with B3+B40 and B3+B5 is the best for Jio in terms of signal stability and speed

Without CA the maximum speed at my location is 25Mbps. Will test with Airtel and post the results tomorrow.

Steps to enable Carrier aggregation on Lenovo ZUK Z2 Plus
Friends, by default carrier aggregation is disabled on our Indian stock ROM. Reliance JIO and Airtel in India supports carrier aggregation. JIO supports on Band 3+5, Band 5+40 or Band 3+40 on ZUK Z2 plus or Airtel supports Band 3+40 in some states.
To enable carrier aggregation on this handset, please follow these steps. It can be used for other handsets also.
    PREREQUISITES:
    1. Bootloader must be unlocked.
    2. Phone must be rooted.
    3. ADB should be installed and phones USB debugging mode must be ON.
    Link for QXDM tool:
    https://drive.google.com/open?id=1kVG4ewkHg4_wHeWK94M3-XNdZYO9HF94
    STEPS:
    1. Connect phone to PC via USB with phone in ON state.
    2. Open command prompt with administrator rights.
    3. Go inside ADB folder via command prompt.
    4. Type <adb devices> Your phone must be listed there if everything is alright.
    5. Type <adb shell>
    6. Type <su> You must grant SU permission in phone.
    7. Type <setprop sys.usb.config rndis, diag, adb>. You will hear beep. It means your phone entered in diagnostic mode. You can also dial *#*#717717#*#* to enter directly in diagnostic mode in Xiaomi phones.
    8. Then open QXDM professional tool. Go through options>communications and check your phone port is selected in target port as shown in video.
    9. Click NV Browser in View section. Go to RF LTE in category filter.
    10. For B3+B5+B40 CA, find RFNV LTE B3 CA BC CONFIG AND click Read on right bottom. This will read default values. Type 549755813908 and click Write to overwrite the values. Similarly find RFNV LTE B5 CA BC CONFIG and RFNV LTE B40 CA BC CONFIG and type same value 549755813908 to enable CA on all 3 Bands and reboot phone. You will see 4G+ when CA is active.
    11. To enable CA on other combination of Bands, download NV calculator by vndnguyen from Play Store. In LTE Bands section, select Bands of your choice and it will tell you the Decimal value to overwrite. For example, for Band 3+5 combination, it is 20.
    12. Reboot phone.

I saw this question unanswered previously. Please someone tell us if this CA is persistent between flashes. Please. It would be a lot of help. Thank you. ?

Imho the NV RF LTE CA BC values affect the baseband. This baseband doesn't should change on custom ROM flashes. Hence it should persist. I ll confirm this by Sunday as I am planning to flash the Jaguar Oreo ROM.

After enabling CA, phone was stable for some time. But now the phone is rebooting whenever it latches to multiple bands.
If I revert the values then phone is not rebooting.
Do I need to change any other NV value?
Could you please help me in fixing the issue?. Also could you please share the NV value for B40+B40 intra band CA?

    NV value: 549755813908
Updated bands: 3/5/40 (RFNV LTE B3 CA BC CONFIG/RFNV LTE B5 CA BC CONFIG/RFNV LTE B40 CA BC CONFIG)
    Operator: JIO

There is no intra band CA in JIO right now. You should try Band 3+5 CA in Jio. It is most stable. For Band 3 and 5 you should write NV value 20 and in Band 40 Just write 0 to disable.
