I've noticed that messaging apps other than the Stock Messenging app won't show sync'd avatars for contacts. Only the stock messaging app does. Have tried setting others as default app, reboot, still to no avail.

I did. Couldn't fix with wipe so I had to go to another ROM. :(

I've used both Winrar and 7zip and both are getting errors.

Huge props for posting these TAR's. When I download the MJE zip I'm getting errors when attempting to extract. I've downloaded twice and both have been corrupt. Anybody seeing this?

No luck. Perhaps the OP can chime in. My issue is that ODIN doesn't see the phone in DL mode.
