its most like a hardware failure conincidentally happend during the update , try reflashing it back to MIUI 11 and if does not help , hope your warranty covers it.

according to the vide in youtube the new update brings some fixes and the remote shutter options . so you can use the watch as a remote shutter for the phone's camera. but this also requires the new version of the health app as well
