Thread [Q] Does phone need to be rooted for this reason?

I like to tinker with wearables like Pebbles,Sony Smartwatches, Android Wear Watches, Meta Watch, etc. I have purchased about 8 of these and have managed write apps to talk to the Pebbles via WP8 and Windows 7. I have a Nexus 7 Kit Kat 4.4 tablet and have been able to download the official...

    Post Smartwatches anyone? Windows.Phone.Notification.Management.AccessoryMan ager?

I have not had experience with the WP8.1/WP8.1 Update 1 yet but it could be related to how you have to ask the user for permission in the new API. It looks like the process is not straight forward but I would research that.

Post [Q] LG Optimus as an iPod touch for Android?

Thank you! That is actually a better option. I could not get the apps down to my Nexus 7 because they required a phone. Now I am able to get the 2 apps I need which were part of Kickstarter campaigns I backed. Now I can wait to buy an Android phone until I can afford something nicer than $49...

Thread [Q] LG Optimus as an iPod touch for Android?

I need a way to download Android apps that require a phone from Google Play but I do not need to use the device as a phone. Best Buy has the LG Optimus Exceed 2 with 4.4 Kit Kat for $49 no contract required. If I purchase this can I use it on wifi like and iPod Touch without activating it on...

Thread [Q] Suggest an Android phone for this specific need

I am looking for a way to download device apps such as the Kreyos phone app ( these are all free apps) from Google Play store and be able to get those apk's off of the phone and on to my Android tablet. I have been using a Nexus 7 which has worked well but the last couple of devices I have...

Thread [Q] Recommend a phone that is not locked down

I am a Windows Phone developer who writes apps for wearable devices like the Pebble that are not supported or poorly supported on Windows Phone. In order to understand the Bluetooth protocol for the device I normally download the manufacturers apk for their device and decompile it to understand...

Post Sony Smartwatch 2 Windows Phone APP

I have since purchased the Sony Smartwatch 2 but have not had time yet to work on an app for Windows Phone. I still intend to do so once I get finished with the Pebble apps. Otherwise, I just wasted money on the Sony Smartwatch 1 and 2.

Post [Q] SPP of BT devices or OS ?

The 2 apps are in the WP Store. Search for Pebble Watch. I did the Pro and Lite apps.

    Post SW2 for $134.99 at Rakuten (Buy.com)

That was the case with the Pebble as well. My apps do not use the Pebble SDK either. Reverse engineering the Bluetooth protocol the Sony uses is not easy but it is possible. It appears the Sony SW 1/2 still use the same basic Bluetooth protocol/packets as the Sony Liveview watch which I already...

Post [Q] SPP of BT devices or OS ?

I developed a Pebble Watch app on an HTC 8X. All WP8 devices support RFCOMM which functions the same as Bluetooth SPP.

    Post SW2 for $134.99 at Rakuten (Buy.com)

I jumped at this and ordered the Sony Smart Watch 2 today. I developed 2 Windows Phone 8 apps for the Pebble. I might check into doing the same for the Sony SW 2. When it comes to smart watches WP currently has nothing except my 2 Pebble apps and a Pebble app another dev did for installing...

Post Sony Smartwatch 2 Windows Phone APP

I created 2 WIndows Phone 8 apps to work with the Pebble watch which are in the WP store. If I get some time I might try to create one for the Sony. I have the Sony Smart Watch 1. If I am able to get that to work I will probably buy a Sony SW 2 and see if it the Bluetooth protocol is the same. I...

Post lock and unlock Windows via Bluetooth

Technically it should be possible but it may not be worth the effort. I think the Windows program would have to try to connect every minute or every 30 seconds and lock the screen if it cannot. Then keep scanning to unlock when it can connect.

Post [Q] Legal Issues Of Android Development ! Please Help !

I think it depends on the website and what your app will do. If your app is just using their content it may be illegal. Best thing to do would be to contact the website and tell ask them explaining what you want to do. I have seen plenty of Facebook and Twitter apps that cost money but they...
