A 'normal' microUSB cable will charge at a low rate compared to the stock NC cable and suitable power supply.

I just restored my NC after having boot loops, and failing to mount the SD after the latest CM9 nightly install. The only thing that got it to mount the SD I had the restore on was to put eyeballer's 1gb CWM 3.2.01 image on a Sandisk 4gb card along with a CM7.2 zip, and booting from that. Once...

I'd try InstaMorph or some steel filled epoxy putty, although the latter might be too rigid. InstaMorph is nice because you can reuse it.

I was thinking that RTV silicone (downside is long cure time) or maybe hot melt glue would be worth a try. Either one would be translucent enough to see the LED color. The Sugru looks interesting, although opaque like heat shrink tubing.

While I do NOT want to wait 'til December for Google to get its act together, the current state of CM does a lot for my patience. I'll use a gadget for as long as it's useful to me. The Palm IIIx still gets used every day, the NC may be no different.
