Thank you so much, both for this guide and the helpful reply. :) I could have sworn that I followed every instruction to the letter, but slowly going through the steps again did the trick. It finally booted to the android logo in ~15 seconds and the home screen in about a minute. It's unlocked...

I have successfully reached step 23, but my phone remains on the 'Samsung Galaxy S5 / powered by android' boot logo indefinitely and does not finish booting, even if I wait >1 hour (step 24). I am able to re-flash the initial COMBINATION_VZW... firmware with Odin in order to make it boot...
