If you pull down status bar to fully open, it should show "T-Mobile Wi-Fi Calling" listed in the upper right rather than just T-Mobile. I use Google Dialer and when I dial out connected via Wi-Fi Calling, the dialer will list the call as a WiFi Call.

I upgraded from official 16 to 17.1 (Johnassel version). Already running the hotfix Firmware. Using Orange Fox flashed 17.1, then latest gapps, then Magisk-v20.4. Booted right up with no issues. Seems to work great.
