    Did you download XAP directly from windowsphone.com? In this case the updates should work fine. Cracked Apps however won't be able to update. If you want to hide the updates, I think you should be able to change the GUID of the App I've never tried this, though.

    Nokia Care Points do it usually for free. Also the ATF-Box approach voids your warranty and you risk serious damage to your phone.

    The update in Zune should work, no matter how old your firmware is. What version are you currently running?
