No, TWRP 3.0.3-0. I never had any issue of TWRP unable to decrypt the data as I installed it while I was still on 3.5.4

Post [Recovery] Official TWRP for the OnePlus 3T

I did it: flashed 4.0.1 followed by SuperSU, then format dalvik and cache -> reboot All good, no issue to report so far. Flash 4.0.1 full, not the OTA unless you need a brick.

    Post [ROM][OFFICIAL][7.1.1] OOS 4.1.3 Nougat for OP3T !!!

Upgraded from rooted 4.0 to 4.01 no problem except theme: when 1st boot in 4.01 theme was the default one even if selected was the dark theme, then tried to change it, but whatever I select it never changes and stay stuck on default theme. Anybody else having same issue?

    Post [ROM][OFFICIAL][7.1.1] OOS 4.1.3 Nougat for OP3T !!!

Yes, that you can just flash the full 4.0. I had the same setup + root and it all went well. Now why wouldn't you upgrade TWRP first? You would better do it now as once in 4.0 you don't know what might happen if you do it.
