Have the same problem.... This is how I got it to work. After having all your driver's installed correctly, toggle MTP off on your phone and then toggle it back on. You will see the internal storage show up.

Just add the following to your build prop, save, and reboot your phone. net.tethering.noprovisioning=true

The short answer is no. The difference from the stock app is that with Wifi Tether Router, it takes about 30 seconds longer to broadcast the wifi signal.
