Post Is there any cutom ROM development for the Gear S3? If not, why not?

A rooted device would basically let the user do what they want with the watch. Basic annoyances could be corrected. Things like getting rid of pre installed apps/watch faces you don't use, get rid of standalone icon on watch faces, being able to re arrange ALL icons to where you want etc could...

Post Screen burn in with AOD.

If you are worried about burn in use faces that don't have a lot of colors that include blue( purple, white, etc). The lifetime of the blue emitter on OLED is the least by far and is most susceptible to degradation (burn). The lifetimes of red and green emitters are much longer so colors that...

Post Watch-faces all ruined when not connected to phone.

I don't use AOD as all it does is drain the battery too fast and burn-in the OLED screen. I found that the wrist motion to turn on screen works fine, I don't need it on when I am not looking at it. So for me it effects the display 99% of the time. Even then the AOD is a simplified face, if I...

Post Watch-faces all ruined when not connected to phone.

That is why it should be an option. If you like it keep it, if you don't disable it. It shouldn't be forced on whether you want it or not. Not everyone uses the watch the same way. For me the only way to get rid of it is BT and phone connection. Even cellular connection shows icon. It is...

Post is there a way to disable the Standalone icon ?

I made a thread about this too. It is pretty annoying, I don't see how they think having a white icon plastered over watch faces is a good idea, it is worse you can't disable. Maybe if we can root it we can go in and at least delete the icon graphic so it doesn't show? I don't know if that...

I wonder if we can root the device if that icon could be killed? Maybe I could go to where that image is and replace with a blank image. That may work too eventually. Hopefully it will be possible to root the device.

    Thread Battery life test?

I was wondering if there was a test procedure to see exactly how good the battery in your watch is. There are threads about battery life but with so many variables it is almost impossible to judge, unless you really have a bum one. What I am thinking is to shut off all connections to phone...

Post Watch-faces all ruined when not connected to phone.

I can't get it to remote connect. It is either connected to phone or shows like the second one "stand alone t-mobile". Oh well.

Post Attention Samsung, these are our TOP complaints!

Annoying bright white OLED burning watch icon at 12:00 overlaying and spoiling watch face when in standalone mode with no option to shut it off. The only situation it goes away is when connected to phone with BT. Cellular connection doesn't make it gone. Can't re-arrange/delete bloatware...

Post Watch-faces all ruined when not connected to phone.

No the problem is not solved because even when remotely connected it shows for me. I turned on LTE then enabled blue tooth on the phone. It connects and the icon disappears, but as soon as I shut off BT on the phone the icon pops up again instantly. So no matter what mode I use I MUST be...

Post Watch-faces all ruined when not connected to phone.

Has nothing to do with making someone think it is a real watch. It has to do with nicely done beautiful watch faces all having this white "wart" spoiling the look of it. It is ok to have it for those that want it but it should be able to be shut off with an option.

    Post Disable shealth

I know it may be obvious but did you try to shut down the watch after disabling everything then restart and have autostart apps option off?

Post Downloading the original Watchfaces of the Gear S3

Has anyone tried it i wonder? I just want to get rid of most as you have to scroll through all of them to get what you want and it can get tedious when you have a lot of faces.

Post Future of Gear S series and Tizen

Unfortunately it is not just Samsung that does crap like that (forced apps etc). Even Pebble had watch faces that you couldn't remove if you wanted. Most every phone/tablet has bloat you can't remove. I don't understand this mentality and why they won't let the user make their own decisions...

Post Downloading the original Watchfaces of the Gear S3

Can you use this method to nix unwanted faces that come with the watch? Are there files in multiple places to delete or are all files in that dir you mention?
