Did you have LOS 16 installed before wiping or did you revert to stock ROM before?

Many thanks! I will post about the outcome as soon as I have tried this. As this includes a complete reset of my device (again) it might take some time. Setting up everything accordingly takes me a few hours each time...

LOS recovery never worked, only TWRP. I wiped system + cache and formatted (?) data just like the official install instructions suggest. Tried only install/recovery 17.1 build 20200406.

Yes, first I followed the instructions from abovementioned link. This did not work and afterwards I was not able to revert to my old install of LOS 16. Then I tried wiping plus fresh install.

I cannot upgrade my LineageOS 16 (build 20200325) Moto Z to 17.1, nor can I freshly install 17.1 on the wiped phone. Tried both, LineageOS recovery and TWRP. Now I saw in the XDA DevDB Information section: ... ROM Firmware Required: Official Oreo or Nougat ... Does this mean I have to install...

Thanks, in the end I exactly followed the instructions from "wiki.lineageos.org/devices/griffin/install" but was only able to install LOS 16 via TWRP sideloading. Before that I followed these instructions trying to upgrade from my old LOS 16: "wiki.lineageos.org/devices/griffin/upgrade"...

Same problem here. LOS 16 + TWRP. Tried upgrading as officially suggested but neither worked, upgrading with TWRP or LOS recovery. Never achieved to boot to the latter. Reverting back to 16 also failed afterwards, so I also tried the following: wipe + fresh install if 17.1, wipe plus fresh...
