I have this problem before coz the firmware is not signed by Huawei yet. What I did was occasionally click the link and clicked " Check Firmware Access, With IMEI to check whether it's signed by Huawei. If it's signed, then you should not have this problem and can upgrade the firmware. Cheers ...

Used to owned P9 Plus. OTG works well . Using P10 Plus now. No problem with OTG. Check your OTG connector whether it is too short.
