I just rooted a Verizon GS4 (VRUAME7) using this method. Everything went fine. I verified root with Root Checker, rebooted the phone, checked again. Then I followed this method to install TWRP. When I rebooted the device as instructed, it got stuck on a splashscreen that has and Android logo...

If you find a easy to understand guide on how to go from 4.1.2 rooted back to 4.0.4 stock, please, link it here. I can't find it. I'm pretty sure there's no way around the sim though.

I read a post about using some rsd file and also a file from the hd utility to do a restore using rsd-lite. It's all very confusing to me. On 4.1.1 rooted, all I had to do was the 4.0.4 restore in the HD utility, is was extremely clear and easy. This 4.1.2 via rsd, not so much.
