Strange i didn't have those problems when flashing properly, Do you also use nano/pico opengapps? You could also give crDroid Android 5.12, a try maybe that will work well, but it's android 9 instead of 10. I think you need to flash it in the same way as lineage.

The GMS will stay after updating, Also you should also be able to use the hisuite proxy method to downgrade your p40 pro, for some reason there isn't a firmware available there for the regular p40, that's why we have to use this method.

Seems like it doesn't work well with the flamegapps, i also had problems with the touchscreen and random lag. Now i flashed it again and installed opengapps pico and it's working fine now. I also tried microg, nanodroid patcher & fakestore and that also worked well.

Search this for the kdz VS98713A_06_0626_ARB00.kdz I believe this is not the latest rom, but if you flash a older rom you should always be able to update it. You could also try to do a factory reset to see if that fixes your issues.

You need to format (not wipe) data first because its encrypted on the stock rom, then you can wipe all the partitions and flash the rom
