Post Looking for good file explorer

I used ES File Explorer until they went nuts with ads/snooping. Switched to Solid Explorer and really like it but I may try out X-plore now

    Post Seamless Updates

At first I thought the same, that it wasn't different. Thinking back on it the big difference is not sitting at the boot loader/recovery screen while it installs. It dl & install/reboot and use. Much quicker getting back into the phone than before. Also did not get the updating apps x of y after...

Post Project Fi on Pixel XL

Went from Tmobile to Fi and coverage wise its as good if not better. I havent had any connection issues. The only "issue" i have now is I actually have to be mindful of how much data I use. Thats new to me as prior to tmo i had unlimited on Sprint. I dont use a ton of data but if I use 2-3GB I...

Post [Q] Any 3rd Party Chargers Recommended with PD

Thanks for the link and for others input too. Seems so far the consensus is that the google chargers are the best bet. I heard the Belkin car charger they have is $5 cheaper at Verizon so I may swing by there Thurs on my day off to grab a car charger. Ill have to check out the spreadsheet. My...

Post [Q] Any 3rd Party Chargers Recommended with PD

I was of the understanding that the Pixel/XL were not QC 3.0 compatible and ONLY PD compliant. Is it possible to safely fast charge them using QC 3.0 chargers then? If so that's great because those are dirt cheap.

    Post Block ads?

I use Opera Browser as it has a built in ad blocker and doesnt require dealing with a standalone ad blocker. I have been using this on my N5 and will likely continue on my Pixel XL when it arrives. I use Chrome for browsing sites I know arent laden with ads and use Opera for sites that I am not...

Thread [Q] Any 3rd Party Chargers Recommended with PD

I realize that old chargers and even most new ones will simply work, but I have had a hell of a time finding any 3rd party charger (wall or car) that supports USB PD (Power Delivery) at 9v/2A (18w). I am aware Googles store has the official wall charger and a Belkin car charger. Has anyone found...

Post Looking to breathe new life into an aged Nexus 5

I just went from stock ROM with custom kernel to cm13 and am wondering why I didn't do this long ago. I was getting sick of monthly updates with no easy way to apply them and was noticing some slowness. Now I can update just like ota with the security patches baked in. It still gives me the...

Post [ROM] [6.0.1] [MARSHMALLOW] CyanogenMod 13 for Nexus 5

Post [KERNEL] [March 3] ElementalX N5 8.14 (Nougat) 9.02 (Oreo)

Im well aware the difference in heat isnt from the undervolt, its from max CPU being 1700mhz instead of 2200mhz. If i wanted to learn what you are "teaching" id be regressing, not progressing. Agreed, i did ask what to set them to, to match what the installer sets them to. That's not a matter...

Post [KERNEL] [March 3] ElementalX N5 8.14 (Nougat) 9.02 (Oreo)

Figured it out on my own. From the OP: So i set the 300mhz to 700mv and left the rest. Finished setting up all my apps and settings. So ill give it a go for the next few days and see how it goes. Currently at 1700mhz max and 700mv @ 300mhz and i notice that the phone runs MUCH cooler. Whereas...

Post [KERNEL] [March 3] ElementalX N5 8.14 (Nougat) 9.02 (Oreo)

I appreciate the advice, but i am aware of the risks. From what i have seen many people (maybe the majority) seem to think underclocking and undervolting (using less power uses less battery) is exactly what matter most when it comes to battery life. Im interested in what specifically i should...

Post [KERNEL] [March 3] ElementalX N5 8.14 (Nougat) 9.02 (Oreo)

Just got the ElementalX app. Stock 6.0.1 ROM, Latest ElementalX Kernel, SuperSU 2.65. Went to voltages in app and not sure what to set here. I see people (and the initial installer) mention things like 700mv, but the app has a setting for each mhz rating of the CPU. Any guidance would be great...

Thread [Q] ROM + Kernel for Best Battery Life?

Hey I'm looking for the closest to stock ROM with the best battery life. Im not sure if i should stay stock and rooted (6.0.1) and go with franco kernel or switch to CM 13 (CAF?)...or something else even. Id say my usage is about average, minimal usage while working, probably less than an hour...
