Surprisingly recent posts for the Zenfone. I literally just ordered the Zen3zoom today as my travel phone (since I can't unlock my Note 9) and am actually super excited to get this phone! I might try to learn how to make ROMs too....

The phones are so similar, things do carry over. Just like the S7 and S7 Active, us Active owners got root using a S7 method. I assumed we would not be able to flash the exact firmware. If nothing else, maybe someone could add the S8 Active to XDA...

My biggest complaint is how little custom development there is for it. I have been modifying and tinkering with my phones for years and all that stopped when I got the S7 Active. I miss the heart wrenching moments when you think you bricked your phone and you can't afford a new one, and fix it...

My all stock build is still PL1 and I have applied all the updates from AT&T including the one from a few days ago. How do I get to PL2 before I root?

This is interesting. I have not tested this but I'll play with it tomorrow and see if I can figure anything out. I have the S7 Active so maybe it will be a different story.

I have a new unlimited plan with AT&T, just switched from Verizon, and I am having trouble getting any tethering working. I even tested FoxFi and several other apps from the store. Do you have any solutions?

Thats what I thought but it's been a while since I read about it. I flashed one before I updated and it was wonderful. Just wishing there was a solution for rooting 24c if not full bootloader unlock...

Then why has no one uploaded a rooted version of VS986 24c? I have a fair amount of Linux experience and I dont just magically know how to do this.

Any hope for 24c rooted?
