For me, the only reason to root a phone is to get it to do something it doesnt already do. Ask yourself does your phone do everything u need it to do? Is it fast enough for you? Its pointless to ask other people because everyone uses their device differently so everyones opinion is different.

Make sure you get the apn settings from the carrier your going to use before you go there... Last time I went to Europe I had to set up my own APNs for data and mms because the companies had no idea what APNs were... Just do a little research with all the phone carriers of the area you'll be...
