OK...looks like I owe the thread an apology. 1281-4640-RC3 - which is Germany unbranded. I live in the UK, and bought the phone in the UK from a UK shop as unbranded. Apparently I have a German phone. Ah well - matches my German car I suppose! Sorry for getting any real UK unbranded owners hopes...

Uk 23.1.a.0.690 Now showing as available for my UK (sim free) Xperia Z2 via PC companion.

From experience about a fortnight - if not then it usually means the UK is being skipped a particular update. Presumably that won't occur with 4.4.4.

As I've already asked... The release notes say HiRes is output through the headphone socket (as opposed to the USB socket to an external DAC) but only for DSD and PCM. Therefore I'm assuming that a HiRes FLAC file will not output through the headphone socket at it's original bit rate?

Yup - downloading now on unbranded phone. It's funny - when I was involved with HTC Elevate it was mentioned that their UK unbranded updates are always 2 weeks after initial release. There were reasons apparently - but they refused to give them. Initial release for the Z1 was 18/12/2013? Hmm...

Tried the mod. What it seems to do is completely disable ALL Sony sound enhancements. So no ClearAudio, Dynamic Normaliser, Equalizer etc. So the deviation in sound is gone - but this can be achieved by simply turning them off without the mod? Rooted, removed original files, pasted new...
