...and after successful boot.img replacement and your device is rooted. At next OTA update, update, but do not reboot. Go to Magisk Manager ("Magisk is up to date"), choose Install and Install to Inactive Slot (After OTA), reboot. Doing this for every OTA ensures that you'll stay rooted.
