The same thing happened to me. When the camera doesn't come up, try selecting Emergency Call to bring up the dialpad, then hit the 'back' button. The pattern unlock will come up again (touchscreen should work) and you can unlock it.

Go into the messaging app, press menu, settings, and scroll down to the notifications section. Select Vibrate and then always.

Have you tried Groove IP? Works great for me on ICS, better than on GB. You can find it in both the Amazon market and Play store.
