I can only conclude that launcher app is installed differently on international rom vs chinese rom, unfortunatrly I dont have a chance to get my hands on an international rom to see how that's like.
If you have kept a copy (apk) before uninstalling it, you could just install it back.
Here is how you can extract it:
adb shell pm path com.huawei.android.launcher -- show the path to the APK
adb shell cp /path/to/apk/from/above /storage/emulated/0/Download/base.apk -- copy it to Download...
The chinese Huawei online store (Vmall) has a miracast receiver from Hagibis that claims to work in [email protected]
I haven't found any user review that explicitly says it works in 4K tho.

IIRC it's called "drawer home" in english app store. my huawei ID region is in China so I'm using the chinese app store, and I'm able to find "华为桌面" in it.
You don't need factory reset to bring back the emui launcher if you removed it with adb shell. you can always reinstall it via huawei's app store.
Removing the emui launcher causes gesture navigation to stop working, as well as the ultra power saving mode.
when attempting to enable contactless, the following messages appear in order:

I just got a Chinese version Mate 20 Pro and was able to "change" the launcher. This is done by installing 3rd party launcher then delete the oem launcher via adb shell.
