It's not true that second sim works in 2g only. You cannot get 1.4mbit/s using Edge or gprs. Edge is limited to 0.25mbit/s in most networks. It can work in 3g even in hspa+ mode but indeed it seems that maximum bandwidth of data transfer is limited.
