@ThE_MarD, thanks, don't sweat it. Right now, I'm staying put with Pie FI.

I should also have said, if what you were thinking of was basically a modified version of @munchy_cool 's flash-all script(s), I could edit my own if I knew which operations to keep in and which to remove. I know I've read that non-HLOS.bin may be the key file, but that's a really uneducated...

@ThE_MarD, that would be awesome, thanks. RETUS or FI would work for me. I'm not even sure whether the firmware is different with regard to data on T-Mobile. I chose to update to FI since it's still getting security updates, but might return to RETUS before going to LOS again if it makes more...

    Post [ROM][OFFICIAL][PAYTON][NIGHTLIES]Lineage OS 17.1

@ThE_MarD, thanks, but last couple of times I tried, I didn't even install Magisk. I did reboot to recovery each time and install OpenGapps nano, but that's it. I'm now seeing these problems other people are having. I wonder whether anyone who's successfully flashed from stock can precisely...

    Post [ROM][OFFICIAL][PAYTON][NIGHTLIES]Lineage OS 17.1

I've tried every variation of LOS installation I can think of, but I cannot successfully retain mobile data. If anyone who has faced this issue has any tips, I'd love to know. I also have found that I cannot boot the LOS recovery from fastboot, so I have to at least temporarily boot into TWRP...

@nighthawk1986, sorry that wasn't an option. Hope you can return it. I was actually happy to find with mine that not only should I be able to use LOS, but I've currently flashed it as a FI version, which brings me up to stock Pie with October 2020 security updates.

@nighthawk1986, I have an XT1900-1 with bootloader unlocked. But, read this. Firmwares are different. I never had Alexa or Amazon ads, etc. I wonder if you can use one of the stock images (e.g., RETUS from lolinet) and either Lenovo's tool or one of the bootloader flashing scripts to get rid of...

    Post [ROM][OFFICIAL][PAYTON][NIGHTLIES]Lineage OS 17.1

@ThE_MarD, thanks again for the help and advice. To be clear, I have been doing my best to follow the instructions, which included starting with latest firmware (I was running the last Pie update for RETUS when I started my attempts) and running copy-partitions latest zip, all before flashing...

    Post [ROM][OFFICIAL][PAYTON][NIGHTLIES]Lineage OS 17.1

Now I've installed TWRP on stock the correct way (fastboot boot twrp.x.x.img, then install zip from sdcard). I managed to also then install Magisk, also rebooting back into recovery and flashing it to both slot_b and slot_a. Question: Before I try LOS again and possilbly lose data (I've gone...

Ran into the same loss of data issue trying to flash LOS again. Back to using scripts/LMSA/LRSA to re-flash stock. If anyone has any ideas what could be wrong on my end, other than formatting data (which I've been doing), please reply. I just realized that the instructions from LOS have...

    Post [ROM][OFFICIAL][PAYTON][NIGHTLIES]Lineage OS 17.1

Hey, @ThE_MarD, I did Format Data each time, so that wouldn''t be the culprit. Ultimately, even after going back to stock using Lolinet firmware and scripts from the return-to-stock thread, I was getting reboots after initial setup, so I ended up getting LRSA and restoring from there. Turns...

    Post [ROM][OFFICIAL][PAYTON][NIGHTLIES]Lineage OS 17.1

Sorry if I've missed information that applies here, but anyone else having issues lately losing data after flashing this LOS? I just tried from my existing stock (original, RETUS, updated as far as it went over stock OTA), no data on booting LOS. Then I went back to stock using the...

    Post [RECOVERY][UNOFFICIAL][TWRP 3.2.1][MOTO x4 PAYTON][7.1.1/8.0]

Hello. I am having the backup failure issue described here, and the only way I seem to be able to get past it is to remove any security (e.g., PIN) in the OS. Note that I don't have multiple users and have tried all remedies suggested in the linked thread. I am not using any filesystem...

    Post [ROM][OFFICIAL][PAYTON][NIGHTLIES]Lineage OS 17.1

Can anyone point me to or do a quick write-up of the best approach to making a Nandroid backup of the X4 when going from stock to LOS? I'm a little confused by the ab device process, but feel comfortable enough following the flashing instructions in this thread. It's just the initial backup...
