I wouldn't worry about rooting, the phone works great as it is! Sony pretty much gave us full control over the phone without modding, you only really need root if your going to alter the system files... But these phone are still going for upwards of $400... Really want to take the chance of...

It's just not worth it... Stagefright is the only reason to update(and there's no way around it as stagefright 2.0 makes every android device susceptible to it), and 5.0.3 uses more resources than 4.4.4...

Rsd isn't recognizing my phone... Did everything that I could find... So I'm hoping I can use adb/flashboot in motoxtools to manually reflash custom recovery and then reflash to stock... I wish I was better at this stuff... Lol

Get xperifirm and download the stock firmware (4.4.4). Then reflash the ftf back onto your phone. If you're in update mode you're lucky. Use the path I stated just above your comment if you aren't rooted. But lollipop 5.0.3 isn't worth the hassle on the z3v, kitkat works just fine.

You can also flash lollipop from flashtool and use xperifirm to download the official unofficial firmware directly from Sony. You don't even need to root. Just make sure to uncheck EVERYTHING in the flash menu before setting out. I just reverted back to kitkat and I'm not going to attempt it...
