Not an app after all. The touchscreen itself was dodgy. Now failed completely. Anyone know how I can wipe the (unrooted) device completely before I send it back? Power & vol buttons ar still working, as is the screen itself. I just can't use touch to do anything.

The clock app wasnt the cause. Next suspect is a dodgy looking game from China that I used for testing am ipega controller. It's called Assault. Sent from my C6833 using XDA Premium HD app

Turns out that in my case it was a fake sd card. Samsung branded in sealed Samsung packaging. Very good looking fake. Must have really been an 8gb card judging by the errors on h2testw. It didn't even occur to me that it could have been dodgy. Lesson learned :-/ Sent from my C6833 using XDA...

Screen is spotless. It's apps that aren't even on the current screen anyway. It might be a rogue app that's causing it. I've uninstalled one and not had the issue again yet. Strange!

Well that's me weaned off WM6x, almost. :-( I have the Galaxy Note now to replace my Athena. Big screen and small stylus so it's good for RDP/VNC and e-books. Not too keen on the lack of friction compared to using a resistive screen and stylus though, so i'm like bambi on ice with it atm...
