Post Why There's No Roms for this Awesome Phone

There are enough people with unlocked bootloaders that it *should* have resulted in some people putting work into roms for this phone, but I think there are just too many proprietary goodies that will be gimped in the process, especially the camera. It feels too late for anything to happen now...

Post Huawei Mate 20 pro Canadian discussion thread

I'm on Telus. I installed Hi-Care a week ago and tried to update, to no avail. Changed my location to all 274 countries on the planet (except Canada, which amusingly is not a selectable country on *any* Huawei menu system of any kind, anywhere), still nothing. I howled with rage and scratched...

Post Huawei Mate 20 pro Canadian discussion thread

Finally got 9.1, as others have mentioned it really didn't change anything. The phone *is* noticeably 'smoother', which is the only way to describe it. The update didn't break anything I had tweaked either, like running Nova with an icon pack and custom font, etc. One thing is for sure - the...

Post Mate 20 Pro - No EMUI 9.1 Update

I installed HiCare and when it didn't update me to 9.2 I smashed my phone with a rock.

    Post Emui 9.1

I hate to be 'that guy', but one of the things that made XDA great is that people are expected to do their own leg work. ALL the instructions you could possibly ever need are in this thread, laid out very neatly and clearly. Yes, it is a little imposing to see a thread with this many pages...

    Post Emui 9.1

There are perfectly good Mega links in this thread that people put up after paying for the firmware...

    Post Emui 9.1

Thanks. I'm trying to protect save files and settings for obscure ports, so I'll pass. Doing transplants by hand doesn't always work.

    Post Emui 9.1

I've never even considered any of the 'brand name' backup solutions. Are you telling me that the Huawei backup is the same as a full nandroid snapshot? Because anything less isn't acceptable. How bizarre that after all these years Google still doesn't care in the slightest about a backup...

    Post Emui 9.1

Well that makes sense, I guess. I would dload the update (thanks to those that went through the cost/trouble to supply it) but I really, really, really don't want to start from scratch again. Ironically you don't have any way to do a backup without root, and it seems like even at best we will...

    Post Emui 9.1

Out of curiosity, why do you want to? I've seen it mentioned several times in this thread that stats show both file systems in use after the 9.1 upgrade, even with the dload method. People have muttered something about doing a factory reset to 'fix' this, but I haven't seen any bottom line...

    Post Emui 9.1

Yeah, ummm... Just so you know that doesn't work for everyone, no matter what location you have. They are definitely rolling it out lottery style, there is NO WAY to force it through Hi-Care.

Post Huawei to lose access to Google services

ORANGE MAN BAD, eh? Huawei has been a target of the U.S. long before Trump was in office. I guess Huawei stealing Billions of R&D from Nortel is just 'okay' by you, then. As far as the spying goes, everyone is spying. The whole Iran sanction thing is also laughable. Just please don't...

Post Huawei lost access to Google tech. What now?

Strangely worded, it doesn't mention anything about support from the actual Google stuff.

Post Huawei lost access to Google tech. What now?

Uhh... It's "just a phone" that I happened to be locked into a 2 year, $130 a month plan with. Maybe that is chump change to you, but it is a long term investment for me.

Post Weird WiFi Problem Not opening Pages

The wi-fi on my phone has been screwed since day one. It still 'works' for most things, like games and such, but web pages or links in a reddit app will mostly load (the progress bar will speed along and then grind to a halt) and then... Nothing. When I googled around, it seems like Huawei...
