Thank you! I will try this. Also, the only reason I'm really rooting my phone is so that I can edit one of the system files that affects my ringtone/notifications. It's some sort of escalating sound that starts off low then gradually goes higher. That is definitely what I do not want. It makes...

I've already tried these 2 things, but I got a boot loop remember? Currently I'm rooted on stock. Should I try doing the 2nd option? I think when I tried flashing system, I got some sort of error

Yeah, the boost mobile one. I didn't test it after step 4. Do you happen to know where that stock rom is? I'm sorry, I'm really new to this. I've been exploring the forum for a few days trying to figure this stuff out lol.

I just get the boot loop again. It goes to the blue screen where it says "hello moto", then reboots and does the same thing. I did everything like you said. I'm not sure what the problem is. I think it's because I have the latest updates and that's why it's giving me the boot loop? I don't...

I don't think there is twrp recovery before the OTA update. I haven't came across one. I messed with my phone the other day trying to root it and got the boot loop, and I found a twrp recovery file the the LATEST update using that.

Thread [Moto g6 play] Is there a way to downgrade after an OTA update

So I tried rooting my phone and it didn't work because I already installed the latest OTA update. Is there any way to downgrade to stock before the update so that I can root it? I have the boost mobile variant Sorry. I'm really new to all of this. I really appreciate the help.

It didn't work. I went by the guide and used your .img. I still got the same boot loop. What if someone backed their device up in twrp before they updated OTA. Could they upload it and let me restore it in twrp?

Can you guys walk me through this? I have the latest OTA update and tried to root but it didn't work; I got the boot loop. If I understand correctly, you guys have the latest OTA update and have rooted it by these methods.

Is there a way to do this after I've updated? I updated when I got this phone; that's why it's not working.
