I can't install Lucky Patcher as well (as it is also comes as a separately downloaded APK) - thats how I found out the isse is not with Magisk, but with the APK files outside of the appstore :(

OK, so it seems the problem with not Magisk, but with any APK file I download. I can install everything from the store, but any APK file I download and try to install, I get the out of space error.

Thanks for the reply, based on your initial guidance it I took a look on some guides on the CWM and managed to install it (but only with the help of ADB), and could update the device after it.
