Does anybody know which .apk is responsible for the 'recommend to a friend' (or similar) notifications? And are there are side-effects/implications to removing this apk? It's definitely the most annoying!

That's some useful feedback all the same - It really is making me consider whether it's worth all of the fuss. I do have a backup, thankfully, and I've used it numerous times but none the less I can imagine I case where the vast majority of .apk will need to be kept in any case. If nothing else...
