I really need to update my phone, currently running rooted Lollipop on a E6653, just been lazy about it! Am I correct in assuming that theres no extra steps I need to take, aside from a backup, before I flash this via Flashtool? I still have the USB driver installed on my PC from the last time...

I'll give that a try later, thanks. I'll also try doing it with CWM Recovery and TWRP, in case that makes any difference. As I say, I've done it several times now with a clean phone, completely factory reset, on CWM recovery, and its not worked, still getting the issue. It'll do no harm trying...

It is on a clean install. I have re-installed it twice now with a full wipe and factory reset but the issue remains.

My phone randomly has picked up a habit of telling me that "Unfortunately Google Play Services has stopped" at random times, and it will keep spamming me with that message incessantly until I reboot the phone. One way I can guarantee to cause it to start doing this is to turn on Location Access...
