I'm not quite shure but do you use a Honeycomb launcher ? if yes try to set that launcher to tablet mode,

if you want to have a smaller home screen, why don't you just change DPI of your launcher? in paranoidandroid settings list and then goto > all apps and scroll down for trebuchet ( or any other launcher that you use )

Then I'm afraid that Swiftkey is not supported right now you could contact D4rKn3sSyS, in fact he is the big boss here :p maybe he knows this problem or he can make a fix for this, maybe for next update (1.6) as for now you should use a other keyboard sadly. About v1.5a: Works like a charm...
