Hello Bixby is only one part of Bixby, not everything Bixby related shows in Hello Bixby. Look inside the apk and look at the permissions.

GS8 apps have support for Bixby integration.

Would changing the package name in the manifest (probably a good idea anyways) allow it to be installed on devices with FB preinstalled? If so, could you add it to the script.

You said you couldn't get into Recovery Mode, so your only option would be Odin Mode to reflash to fix your phone.

I used Kies to download the firmware, backed up the zip it created and inside were the tar.md5 files already broken down for the modem, system, etc. If you open the above tar.md5 files they contain only those components.
