I'll pledge $100 for VS987 root. Right now I'm using it with an at&t sim which I can call and text with, but can't use any mobile data. Good way to avoid going over my data cap ;)

I can confirm that the VS987 variant will work with an AT&T sim. The Verizon network uses CDMA, but if you go through the different carrier network options they are all there. Phone calls and texting work just fine, but I am eagerly awaiting root and/or carrier unlock so I can start using...
