I modified the oem.prop file on the update image by adding AMZ to the athene names. I will upload that here when I get a chance. I haven't actually tried this because my bootloader is locked and I cant wipe this phone as I use it for work.

Thanks for the update. I gave it a try - though I am on G4 "athene_amz" and it did not work, which I think is expected because it wants "athene" for ro.product.name instead. am curious if I will finally have to root this phone to upgrade?

Has anyone tried this? Has anyone ran the update on non-plus G4? How about the non-retail Amazon version? I have held off on trying the soak test so far but would love to update to Oreo. As far as I have read the update is possible on these, but I haven't seen much direct evidence.

Your phone needs to re calibrate the battery. This is probably the bit I like the least about these phones. Near as I can tell the best method is to let it drain till dead - then plug in with your charger and leave for several hours. Power on while phone is still plugged in - let it continue...

Same. Let my battery run dead on t0lte that was running lineageOS and now it boots to Samsung Note II . TWRP cannot mount internal or external storage. This is bad!
