Turn off your phone first. Then unplug you phone from any USB cable. Now press all three buttons at the same time.

I got the same case for my Maxx HD and I love it. It doesn't add much thickness or weight to the phone and the material feels awesome.

I have been using the same app since I got my phone a few days ago and I haven't experienced any problems you describe. Battery is awesome and the phone is snappy.
