finally got root and able to install cwm. left phone connected to computer then rebooted computer after reinstalling samsung drivers. all worked after that. many thanks, now the fun starts...

ok, will delete current drivers and reinstall . have been using usb cord that came with phone and connecting directly to computer usb port, not thru a hub.

I used Galaxy S unlock and when it is finished it says done, use step 3 after reboot to save BAK files. It is just when I enter the test code number in the dialer do I get the message. Is it possible that the phone is actually unlocked but the dialer test will not work on this rom/kernel...

:thanks for all the responses. Finally solved. On a whim I went into mobile network settings, went into APNs and hit "reset to default" and retried the mobile hotspot again and now everything works, all my devices now receive data and can connect to internet again. thanks again to all. mrwhsskers
