    If you install the open rift dk1 drivers in windows.. your pc will see it as dk1.. Some dk1 apps need the display too but most work just fine.. Great you have things working!

    I think with virtualbox or vmware you make things extra complicated. Just grab a 4 gb usb stick, install linux with https://UNetbootin.github.io Make sure you reserve some space during installation so you can install stuff and save settings in linux.

    In the video the guy flashes other firmware to the board but the procedure should be the same. And yes low persistence is working, I must put the gear VR service into dev mode otherwise things do not work.
