I have a similar issue with the Camera. It worked perfect on p2 but p3,4 and 5 I get "Camera not connected" randomly. For me, it's more random than only the first time after boot. But that's OK - I had the same issue on earlier builds of CM9 and I'm 110% certain the devs will work their magic...

It all depends on the device or in other words it can be three things: the hardware, the software or both. In this case, custom ROMs based on CM9 fixed the issue for me. I also don't have any issues anymore on Omega's (9.0) Samsung ROM. A new Kernel or radio could also potentially fix the issue...
