all the apps mentioned did ask for root at first attempt, received it (& saved not to ask). then any of them ran as not the first one after restart/reboot will not work with root. it's random.

regarding the battery, I can't imagine how bad a battery can be in JB. In my RemICS 1.3.1 I've lost 95% of the battery within 6.5 hours! I had no calls, no gaming, no playing, web browsing ! just active 3G/HSDPA connection (mainly focus on facebook notifications). That's all.
